The Carolina Panthers have signed former Denver Broncos running-back C.J. Anderson to a one-year deal.

Anderson will battle for carries with Christian McCaffrey, Fozzy Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne after Jonathan Stewart left the franchise to sign for the New York Giants.

He made 36 starts for the Broncos in his five seasons with the team, having signed for them as an undrafted free agent in March 2013.

Anderson is coming off his best NFL season, at least in terms of yardage, having broken the 1,000-yard barrier by seven yards in 2017, the only season in which he played in all 16 games.

But that was not enough to stop the Broncos releasing Anderson in April.
