NFL Predictions: Laura Wright takes on Richard Graves in Week Four

In Week Four, English soprano Laura Wright takes on Sky Sports News' NFL reporter Richard Graves for our weekly predictions.

Graves goes into the week with a winning record, having followed up a Week Two win over Team GB hockey gold medalist Samantha Quek, with victory over Vernon Kay, but can he keep his successful run going against Wright?

2017 Prediction Results

Richard Graves Opponent's score Graves' season record
v Paul Merson 9-6 10-5 0-1
v Sam Quek 13-3 12-4 1-1
v Vernon Kay 10-6 6-10 2-1

Green Bay Packers fan Wright will be singing the national anthem at the next three International Series games in London, starting with Sunday's between the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins at Wembley.

"I'll get there super early, have my sound check and then tend to get very nervous before the game," said Wright. "I'm not focusing on the sport at that time, but then as soon as I'm done, I grab some Krispy Kremes and go and watch the game.

"There's no sport like it in the UK. I watch as much as I can - unless it clashes with Game of Thrones - and catch-up on highlights if I'm travelling."

Wright has been on the road this week, travelling to Toronto to sing at the opening of the Invictus Games, but has been keeping an eye on the controversy surrounding US President Donald Trump's comments, and NFL players' subsequent protests.

"For me, it's sad to see someone try to use sport to try to segregate," said Wright. "I dread to think if something similar was happening in the UK, as it would be very difficult to handle as a performer.

A look at the issue that is dominating both the front and back pages across the world; President Trump's criticism of NFL players protesting during the national anthem.

"It's such an honour to stand there and sing an anthem. In that moment, all I try to do is unite the crowd - the passion of sport and music coming together can create something really special. There shouldn't be conflict there."

Here's a look at Laura's, and Richard's, Week Four predictions...

New Orleans Saints @ Miami Dolphins, Wembley

Miami Dolphins players run onto the field prior to the game with New York Jets at Wembley Stadium on October 4, 2015 in Lond
Image: The Miami Dolphins return to Wembley for a fourth time

Graves: Sunday was a BIG day for the Saints against the Panthers and they were rewarded with their first win of the season.

In contrast, the Dolphins were hugely disappointing in defeat to the Jets. Head coach Adam Gase has hinted at changes before this weekend's Wembley showdown and there is a feeling that the Saints porous defense might provide the perfect opportunity for the team to get back on track. British running back Jay Ajayi returns to London to play for the first time and is keen to put on a show.

PICK: DOLPHINS

Wright: I'm going for the Saints - QB Drew Brees has too much experience and as they are coming off a convincing win over the Panthers.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Dolphins - I was singing the last time they were over at Wembley but they look like they've got a few gaps in their defence and I'm not so sure about how the team holds up under pressure.

PICK: SAINTS

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens, NFL Sunday LIVE
Sky Sports Action (407), 5.30pm, Sunday

LONDON, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 24: Blake Bortles of the Jacksonville Jaguars consoles Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens after the NFL International Series
Image: Joe Flacco struggled during the Ravens defeat to the Jaguars at Wembley last Sunday

Graves: Baltimore was put to he sword by Jacksonville at Wembley last time out. A defense which had claimed 10 turnovers in the first two games, didn't claim one against the Jaguars and, on offence, the loss of guard Marshal Yanda was keenly felt - QB Joe Flacco was limited to just 28 passing yards.

Live NFL

For the Steelers, they hope to recover from a shock defeat in Chicago. They will, no doubt, have to play better to beat the Ravens... but their squad is the healthier of the two.

PICK: STEELERS

Wright: The Ravens were embarrassed last week at Wembley against the Jaguars - their offence looks to be one of the weakest. Up against one of the strongest defences in the Steelers this week, I can see only one winner.

PICK: STEELERS

Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos, NFL Sunday LIVE
Sky Sports Action (407), 9.25pm, Sunday

OAKLAND, CA - AUGUST 19: Marshawn Lynch #24 of the Oakland Raiders carries the ball against the Los Angeles Rams during the first quarter of their preseaso
Image: Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch is not someone you'd like to face on defence

Graves: On Sunday night, Kirk Cousins and the Redskins shredded the Raiders, while their own highly-rated offence was limited to just 128 offensive yards and 10 points. Meanwhile, seven days after Denver produced a dominant defensive display against Dallas, they slumped to defeat in Buffalo. QB Trevor Siemian, praised for his performance against the Cowboys, was particularly poor against the Bills - he completed just 60% of his passes and threw two interceptions.

Live NFL

With the benefit of home field advantage at altitude, expect Denver to load up against the run - as they did against Dallas a fortnight ago - and dare Oakland to throw the ball. There's a reason the Broncos secondary has been labelled the 'no fly zone' - they'll be keen to show why again on Sunday.

PICK: BRONCOS

Wright: They each have strong running games, with Broncos having CJ Anderson and Jamaal Charles in the backfield, while the Raiders have Marshawn Lynch, who is massive. I'm going to give the Raiders the edge - I think they have more to prove.

PICK: RAIDERS

Indianapolis Colts @ Seattle Seahawks, NFL Sunday LIVE
Sky Sports Action (407), 1.20am, Monday

ATLANTA, GA - JANUARY 14: Russell Wilson #3 of the Seattle Seahawks gets tackled for a safety against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome on January 1
Image: Can the Seahawks do a better job protecting quarterback Russell Wilson?

Graves: This is effectively a season-breaker for both teams. Without quarterback Andrew Luck, the Colts look the worst side in the AFC South, despite claiming a first win of the season against the Browns last weekend. Seattle, meanwhile, look simply awful on offence. Their offensive line is a mess and can't protect QB Russell Wilson, while defensively, safety Kam Chancellor has told his teammates it's time to stop the trash talking and time to start playing.

Live NFL

However, Seattle's defence remains one of the league's better units and this weekend, helped by their famed '12th man' fans, expect the Seahawks to get the win.

PICK: SEAHAWKS

Wright: The Seahawks have been stuttering, but I think this is a game where things will start to fall into place. They've got Wilson at QB - he delivered some outstanding moments against the Titans. And, against the Colts - who have been poor offensively and defensively - I think they could win by a big margin.

PICK: SEAHAWKS

Washington Redskins @ Kansas City Chiefs, Monday Night Football
Sky Sports Action (407), 1.15am, Tuesday

KANSAS CITY, MO - SEPTEMBER 17: Running back Kareem Hunt #27 of the Kansas City Chiefs carries the ball during the game against the Philadelphia Eagles at
Image: Can rookie sensation Kareem Hunt add to his six touchdowns to start the season?

Graves: There are only two undefeated teams in the NFL through three weeks - one of them is the Chiefs. That has been largely down to rookie running back Kareem Hunt - he has been sensational so far. His 401 rushing yards and six TDs lead the league.

Live NFL

Three of those touchdowns have been from 50 yards out or more, registering one in each of his opening three games - that's an NFL record - and only the great Jim Brown averaged more than his 8.53 yards per carry to start a season. Simply put, if the Redskins don't stop Hunt, they don't win this game.

PICK: CHIEFS

Wright: There could be some fireworks in this game. After the Redskins' win over the Raiders on Monday night, I'm tempted to say there will be a switch in momentum in this one, with Washington potentially defeating Kansas City for the first time this season.

Having said that, the Chiefs have that habit of winning at the moment, and led by their star man Hunt, I think that run will continue. But, it will be a very close, interesting game - I expect a high-scorer.

PICK: CHIEFS

Chicago Bears 14-35 Green Bay Packers

Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player

Highlights from the Chicago Bears' visit to the Green Bay Packers in week four of the NFL.

Graves: The Bears got their season up and running with a shock overtime win over the Steelers, while Aaron Rodgers worked his magic to bring back Green Bay back from a 14-point deficit to beat Cincinnati, also in OT.

Injuries have hit the Packers defence hard, while their offensive line continues to offer little protection for the quarterback. Meanwhile, we've seen Chicago humiliated in Tampa and, despite the strong response against Pittsburgh, big questions remain over quarterback Mike Glennon and his ability to look after the ball.

Ultimately, this comes down to who do you trust the most. There can be no arguing with the record of Rodgers and his receiving corps. That is the standout, class unit on the field in this match-up. Throw home advantage at Lambeau Field into the equation and it should prove too great a task for Chicago.

PICK: PACKERS

Wright: I support the Packers, so I'm definitely picking them to win this one. I was drawn to them because they're a team owned by the fans - Green Bay is such a small community and yet they have this amazing team that have done incredibly well. I also love the Lambeau Leap, when the players jump up into the crowd.

There is the potential for the Bears to cause an upset. But I don't think they've got a strong enough defence to prevent the Packers from taking it. They've got Rodgers at quarterback.

PICK: PACKERS
