British-born running back Jay Ajayi is happy with Philadelphia Eagles' tag as underdogs for the Super Bowl

Jay Ajayi is revelling in the Philadelphia Eagles' 'underdogs' tag ahead of Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots, in Minneapolis on Sunday.

Speaking to Richard Graves on Media Night, the British-born running back said: "I've been an underdog my whole life, so this is nothing new for me.

Click on the video above to watch the interview, with Ajayi also reflecting on his "crazy" year, which saw him being traded from the Miami Dolphins mid-season.

Ajayi adds that he just "stuck with it, stayed determined, stayed motivated" and "was lucky to get on a great team".

The Eagles, along with the Patriots, had the best record in the NFL this season, at 13-3, but have had to overcome a devastating injury to their star quarterback, Carson Wentz, in Week 14.

Ajayi says the team knew what they had in Wentz's back-up Nick Foles, who has impressed in the playoffs after a rocky start.

"It's about the next guy up," adds Ajayi. "We just had to rally around Nick - a veteran guy, who has done it before, produced at a high level. Broken records.
