Great Britain's women secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games hockey tournament but the men are facing an early exit after losing a tense clash against Australia.
Helen Richardson-Walsh scored twice as the women made it three wins from three by beating Argentina 3-2.
Her goals earned Team GB a 2-0 half-time lead and Sophie Bray added a third goal in the 37th minute to seemingly make the closing stages comfortable.
But they proved to be nothing of the sort as Argentina scored twice in 64 seconds, both goals going to Florencia Habif, after Richardson-Walsh had missed a penalty to complete her hat-trick.
However, Argentina could not force an equaliser and Britain joined the United States on nine points from three games - the USA thrashed Japan 6-1 in their third game.
Great Britain's men lost control of their own destiny after losing a tense clash against old rivals Australia 2-1.
The first three quarters were scoreless but Australia made the most of Ashley Jackson being yellow-carded in the final period to take a 1-0 lead through Aran Zalewski.
Michael Hoare was dismissed for five minutes later in the period and the Kookaburras again took advantage to make it 2-0 thanks to a tap-in from Jacob Whetton.
Jackson cut the deficit with just over two minutes remaining and Matthew Swann cleared another British shot off the line as Australia held on for victory.
The defeat leaves Great Britain needing a better result against Spain in their final game on Friday than New Zealand manage against Belgium later in the day.
