Gold Cup hero Order Of St George is to be given an entry in the Melbourne Cup.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained four-year-old stamped his class on the Royal Ascot showpiece on Thursday, and is likely to be seen next in an autumn campaign, which will include the defence of his Irish St Leger crown.

After that a trip Down Under could be on the cards, with part-owner Lloyd Williams having already won the 'race that stops a nation' on four occasions.

O'Brien said: "He won't come back for the King George.

"We were always going to give him a break after this week and look at an autumn campaign.

"I spoke to his owner Lloyd Williams last night and he is going to be entered in the Melbourne Cup."
