Jim Bolger's top-class filly Lucida has been retired after suffering an injury.

Winner of last season's Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket, the daughter of Shamardal was runner-up in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in May before finishing a close third in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot the following month.

She was last seen finishing sixth when favourite for the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket and had been due to run in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday week.
