Daban finished with a flourish to emerge victorious in the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket.

Representing the formidable combination of trainer John Gosden and jockey Frankie Dettori, the Acclamation filly was a 12-1 shot having won on her only previous start at Kempton last November.

There were plenty in with chances heading inside the last of seven furlongs, with Poet's Vanity, flanked by Sea Of Grace and Unforgetable Filly.

But the complexion of the race changed dramatically close home, with Daban finishing strongly against the rail and getting up to score by three-quarters of a length.

Unforgetable Filly was second ahead of Poet's Vanity in third.

Dettori said: "It is the first time I've ridden her. Her home work has been good.

"She travelled brilliantly, she showed a good turn of foot and she can only improve. It was only her second start. She showed a good attitude. John said she had a good turn of foot and if that if we were in reach at the dip, she'd find you another gear and she did.

"She can only improve. She has won her trial and she's entitled to give it (the 1000 Guineas) a go."

Daban was slashed from 40/1 to 16/1 for the Qipco 1000 Guineas by Sky Bet.

Gosden said: "I was expecting a good show from her. She's a sweet, lovely filly and is very relaxed at home.

"She does have that cruising speed and ability to quicken which is what a good thoroughbred has.

"She has quickened up well and she'll improve from that.

"She is in the Classic here and in France so we will talk to the owner about which way he wants to play it. We are thrilled to win a Group Three."

Which fillies' Classic Daban goes for could depend on how Dabyah, who races in the same colours, fares at Newbury on Saturday. "The owner has another filly, Dabyah, running in the Fred Darling so we want to see how they go. Dabyah has been to France and maybe this filly can come here and Dabyah can go to France," said Gosden. "I asked Frankie whether she would stay the mile and he felt should would. I think the well-rated and fancied fillies' disappointed early in the race and I do like the second and I was most impressed with the third when she won at Salisbury. "I promise you it is easy to knock it, but I think they are talented fillies and lets see what the Fred Darling has then as usual let's see what turns up fresh on the day without a run. "I think she is the kind of filly that in a race they will know if they go by her. She is tough and has got a great mind. She has only run once in her life. "She had a little argument with Frankie in the first furlong, but she stumbled and picked up and wanted to go a bit. There is no reason a filly like this won't mentally improve as well as physically improve - she is the type of filly that could well be in the frame. I wouldn't start banging any more than that."
