Our Gallops Reporter headed to Sir Michael Stoute's yard to watch his string's Royal Ascot preparations.

South African mare SMART CALL showed her prowess in some work on the Al Bahathri Polytrack on Thursday morning.

The five-year-old winner of the Metropolitan Handicap at Kenilworth last year was far from disgraced when third in the Middleton Stakes at York on her British debut last month.

She is now firmly settled into life at Sir Michael Stoute's yard and got the better of QUEEN'S TRUST by a couple of lengths in her latest spin.

MORI, the beautifully-bred daughter of Frankel and out of the top-class racemare Midday, is in great form ahead of the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She was thoroughly impressive in the Height of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood and powered five lengths clear of VICE VERSA this morning.

Several big names enjoyed solo spins, cantering for four furlongs and then galloping four.
