Castleford forward Frankie Mariano is poised to make his debut for Scotland in Saturday's Four Nations clash with England.

Mariano, whose maternal grandfather emigrated from Saltcoats to the USA, was 18th man for the Bravehearts' opening 54-12 defeat by Australia in Hull and is one of several changes planned by coach Steve McCormack for his team's inaugural meeting with England.

Huddersfield half-back Ryan Brierley, who sustained an ankle injury on his debut last Friday, is left out while McCormack has brought in uncapped Wests Tigers centre Tyler Cassell, recalled full-back David Scott and reunited brothers Callum and Brett Phillips, who play together for Workington.

Callum Phillips, 24, who can play at hooker or in the halves, missed the Australia game after taking a blow to the head in Scotland's warm-up win at Barrow where he was man of the match.

Forwards Sheldon Powe-Hobbs and Billy McConnachie are among those to make way after making their debuts off the bench against the Kangaroos.
