York Knights land deal to play at Bootham Crescent

York City Knights will play at Bootham Crescent this season.

The Kingstone Press League 1 club have effectively been homeless since leaving Huntington Stadium at the end of the 2014 season.

They faced an uncertain future after previous owner John Guildford announced the closure of the club towards the end of last season.

However, former Wakefield general manager John Flatman took over in December and on Thursday told a fans forum he has reached agreement with York City Council to groundshare with York City FC for the next two seasons.

York also unveiled the signing of 21-year-old Ashley Robson from Castleford Tigers, who has signed a three-year contract with his hometown club after being released for an undisclosed fee.

Castleford chief executive Steve Gill said: "After discussions between ourselves, York City Knights and Ashley Robson, a decision was made to facilitate Ashley with a move to the Knights.

"Ashley's personal circumstances have changed somewhat over the past few months and as a club we understood his request to leave. We have a good relationship with the Knights and wish Ashley all the best with his new club."
