Wigan Warriors have completed the signing of forward Gabriel Hamlin from South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The 20-year-old, who can play at either prop or as a loose forward, joins the Warriors on a two-year deal and will link up with his new team-mates when pre-season commences in November.
Hamlin, who is yet to make his NRL debut but is highly-regarded, has made 47 appearances for the Rabbitohs' under-20s side and has secured the move after being recommended to his new side by contacts in Australia.
"I'm really excited about joining Wigan and I'm flattered that they think me worthy of this opportunity," said Hamlin. "I have studied up on Wigan's great history and I am thrilled to get the opportunity to represent the club next season.
"I watch Super League regularly and I am prepared for the challenge that awaits. "It's very exciting and I intend on making the most of this chance."
Hamlin, who becomes the Warriors' first signing ahead of the 2018 campaign, could meet his former employers when the two sides meet next year at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, February 17.
"We are always on the lookout for talented players that have a good attitude and a real determination to improve," said Warriors head coach Shaun Wane.
"Developing players is a part of coaching that I really enjoy and at Wigan we have a great record of bringing in players and taking them onto the next level."
