Warriors winger to spend three months out

Wigan Warriors winger Pat Richards has revealed he will be out of action for three months and not the four to six weeks initially expected. Warriors coach Shaun Wane believed the 2010 Man of Steel would be back in action inside two months after injuring his knee in their recent win over Hull FC. However, following knee surgery Richards has now confirmed that he will be out for a longer period, although he believes his prolonged absence will reap additional benefits. "Unfortunately I'll be out for the next 12 weeks," Richards tweeted. "The operation went well and the knee will be better in the long run." The news of Richards' extended absence is another blow for Wigan who have already been without his services for the first two months of the season through injury.
