The Wolves enjoyed a year to remember after lifting the Challenge Cup, finishing second in the league and reaching the first-ever Grand Final.
Atkins was prolific with ball in hand with 23 scores, a tally that put him joint-fourth in the scoring charts level with team-mate Chris Riley.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed tasting success under Tony Smith and is targeting more silverware come the New Year.
"After all of the excitement of this year I can't wait for next season," Atkins told the club's official website.
"2012 has certainly been one to remember especially the scenes at Wembley and outside the Town Hall after the Cup win.
"We've now had a taste of the Grand Final too so the hunger is there to make it again next year and lift the silverware.
"The support from the terraces was fantastic once again and I'm already looking forward to playing in front of a sea of primrose and blue fans next year."
