Warrington 30-34 Castleford: Tigers stun top-four rivals in thriller

Highlights from the Super League clash between Warrington and Castleford

Castleford moved level on points with third-placed Warrington after a thrilling 34-30 win at their Super League rivals.

The Tigers made a dream start to the match after scoring twice inside the first seven minutes through Mike McMeeken and Calum Turner.

After a sluggish start, Warrington responded quickly with tries from Tyrone Roberts and Stefan Ratchford.

Daryl Clark pounced from close range midway through the half as his converted try gave the hosts the lead for the first time.

Replacement Sitaleki Akauola produced a clinical finish for the Wolves but a superb move from Castleford led to a try from Jy Hitchcox and Calum Turner's penalty made it 20-20 at half-time.

Josh Charnley continued his prolific form by restoring Warrington's lead in the second half.

But Quentin Lalau-Togaga'e marked his debut for Castleford by scoring a converted try to edge the visitors in front with time running out. Lalau-Togaga'e then turned provider to set up Oliver Holmes for another score.

Warrington rallied and Charnley crossed the line, for his 16th try in 12 matches, but Castleford held on for a memorable scalp.

It was a superb attacking display from last season's finalists with the Tigers hampered by a spate of injuries.

But Daryl Powell's side coped admirably and deserved their victory which brought them level on points with Warrington with a game in hand.
