Broncos youngster thrilled to receive Knights recognition

London Broncos youngster Kieran Dixon has expressed his surprise at being called up England Knights 29-man squad for next month's Alitalia Cup tournament. The team are due to play Ireland and Scotland and the former Hemel Stags man had no expectations of being recognised in his debut Super League campaign. Dixon has impressed in England's top flight by scoring 14 tries in 25 games having been promoted by the Broncos after one campaign with their Under-20s.

Surprise

"To be honest I didn't expect it (the call up) to come this year," he told the club's official website. "I thought I'd play maybe five games for the Broncos but I've been privileged enough to play most of the games this season and I'm proud that it's come off the back of good performances. "Kieron Purtill (England Knights head coach) gave me the call to say I was in the preliminary squad and if I'm selected to play it would be a fantastic achievement."
Hard work
Dixon will make his 23rd Super League appearance if he features in the club's final game of the season against Hull KR and he accepts he still has a lot to learn. "I don't feel like an established Super League player just yet," he continued. "I've got a long way to go and I know I've got to keep on working hard and putting in good performances. "Hopefully we can finish this season on a high and kick on and do better next year."
