Bradford Bulls chairman plays down administration fears

Bradford Bulls chairman Marc Green has played down fears that the club is heading for another spell in administration.

The Bulls are reeling from their failure to reach the Super 8s Qualifiers, having finished outside the top four in the Kingstone Press Championship, and earlier this week announced the resignation of managing director Steve Ferres.

Green, who brought the club out of administration in 2014, has admitted the players have not been paid but cut short his holiday abroad to meet with the players and full-time staff to assure them of his continued commitment.

A club spokesman said: "He [Green] started off by apologising to all staff and reassured them that they will be paid by the end of play on Friday 5th August, including all part-time staff.

"Marc explained he has recently experienced the toughest personal and professional period of his life, which had put his and the club's financial position under pressure.

"Marc strongly reaffirmed the position that he has not looked for and will not consider sending the club into administration, despite the many rumours circulating social media.

"At this time, he is exploring the many commercial options available to the club and is confident he will secure its short and long-term future.

"He wanted to reassure supporters he has the club's best interest at heart and is looking forward to the final run of games."

Bradford have experienced a dramatic decline since they were last crowned Super League champions in 2005 and will start their Championship Shield campaign against Whitehaven on Sunday.
