St Helens go in to Friday's showdown with Warrington, which is live on Sky Sports, without Michael Shenton for the first time this season.
The England international has been an ever-present for his new club in 2011, playing in all 20 matches since arriving from Super League rivals Castleford.
However the centre picked up an ankle injury in the closing stages of Saints' 32-10 derby loss at the hands of Wigan last time out.
He will now not only miss the clash with the table-topping Wolves this week but will also be sidelined for the home game against Hull on July 1.
Saints coach Royce Simmons has drafted in Scott Moore to replace Shenton while there is also a place in the 19-man squad for Tom Armstrong; Matty Ashurst is the man to make way.
Duo still out
Warrington are missing key players themselves, with winger Joel Monaghan still recovering from knee surgery and second rower Louis Anderson ruled out with a calf problem.
But coach Tony Smith is able to recall prop Paul Wood, who sat out last Sunday's 46-16 win at Hull KR with a leg injury.
"It's just a little early for Joel," said Smith. "If we were playing Sunday, he may have made it. It's probably the same for Louis. Hopefully he's just a week off.
"Having Paul Wood back this week is a boost."
The Wolves are looking to complete a first Super League double over their neighbours. They triumphed 25-18 in the return fixture at the Stobart Stadium back on February 25.
