Keiron Cunningham says his St Helens side must hit the ground running when they visit Widnes on Sunday.
Saints have bounced back from their heavy loss at Wigan with successive home wins over Hull FC and Castleford and Cunningham wants them to extend that winning streak at the Select Security Stadium.
The St Helens head coach told the club's website: "Widnes are in the same situation as Castleford - they are playing carefree. They did a great job at Wigan and had a good dig against Warrington. It is always a tough game on their ground and it will be physical.
"It is hard to prepare against sides that having nothing to play for. It is usually when they are at their most dangerous. But we want to keep on chugging along and getting better each week.
"We know we have to start well but perhaps we have made it big a deal. It has possibly created a psychological wall where we are nervous about our starts.
"We just have to get on with it because the anxiety doesn't help."
Cunningham is set to stick with the side that beat Castleford, although he has added full-back Shannon McDonnell to his squad.
Widnes are boosted by the availability of forwards Macgraff Leuluai and Manase Manuokafoa who have missed their last three matches through injury, as they look to avoid a third defeat of the year at the hands of their neighbours.
