Selby built on his return to top spot in the world rankings by hammering Shaun Murphy 6-2 to reach the final in the Chinese capital.
He will play Robertson in Sunday's showpiece after the former world champion beat Scotland's Stephen Maguire 6-5 in the second semi-final.
Neither Selby nor Murphy hit top form in their match, where the highest break was 68, but Selby would have few complaints at reaching another final.
The 'Jester from Leicester' had already ensured, simply by reaching the quarter-finals, that he would replace Judd Trump as world No 1.
And his run through the tournament continued as he stormed into a 3-0 lead, with the help of that 68 break in frame two.
Murphy took a close fourth frame but a 63 break stretched Selby's lead back to three frames once again and he closed out the win, dropping only one more frame.
