Mercurial Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has been fined for a verbal outburst during his first-round match at the Shanghai Masters.
And the 20-year-old has therefore edged closer to a possible ban from the ATP tour.
The World No 32 was handed a $1,500 fine for an "audible obscenity" during a 6-3 6-2 win over Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria on Monday.
Back in August, Kyrgios received a suspended 28-day ban and $25,000 fine for remarks he made towards Stanislas Wawrinka at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
The ATP said both the fine and suspension would be withheld, on the condition that Kyrgios did not incur any fines for verbal or physical abuse at any ATP event for six months.
And there was also a $5,000 limit placed on collective fines for other incidents of bad behaviour during the same timeframe.
Kyrgios's outburst in Shanghai was apparently aimed at a cameraman and the court surface.
