Johanna Konta drawn to play Su-Wei Hsieh in first round at Wimbledon

Johanna Konta has been drawn to play Taiwan's Su-Wei Hsieh in the first round of the Ladies' Singles at Wimbledon.

The British No 1 is in line to meet Hsieh for the second consecutive Grand Slam after suffering a surprise first round defeat to the South Korean last month at the French Open.

But Konta's participation at the All England Championships has been thrown into doubt. She was forced to pull out of her match against Karolina Pliskova at the Aegon International in Eastbourne on Friday after picking up a thoracic spine injury in her quarter-final win over top seed Angelique Kerber on Thursday.

World No 1 Kerber will face a qualifier in the first round at Wimbledon as will Simona Halep.

The other four British women were all handed winnable ties. Naomi Broady will face Irina-Camelia Begu, Heather Watson plays Maryna Zanevska and Laura Robson takes on Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Katie Boulter, who is making her debut in the singles main draw, is up against America's world No 59 Christina McHale.

Serena Williams misses the tournament due to her pregnancy, but her sister Venus, a five-time Wimbledon champion has been drawn to play Belgium's Elise Mertens.
