Novak Djokovic is set to return to action for the Kooyong Classic and the Tie Break Tens in the lead up to the Australian Open.
The Serb has not played since retiring during his Wimbledon quarter-final against Czech Tomas Berdych in July and has continued to struggle with an elbow injury.
A statement on Djokovic's website said: "After pulling out from Abu Dhabi and ATP Doha events due to pain in his right elbow, Novak is travelling to Australia where he will take part in two exhibition tournaments.
"After the two events, a decision will be made about his participation at the first Grand Slam of the season, the Australian Open, where Novak has been crowned champion six times."
There were fears the former world number one would pull out of the Australian Open as he withdrew from the Abu Dhabi event just last week, hours before his match with Roberto Bautista Agut.
However, Djokovic is now set to face the likes of Dominic Thiem, David Goffin and Marin Cilic at the Kooyong Classic and will join Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka and Nick Kyrgios at the Tie Break Tens event.
