Russian tennis player Andrey Kumantsov has been banned for life after being found guilty of 12 charges under the sport's anti-corruption code.
Kumantsov, 27, was charged under article D.1 of the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program, based on the findings of a Tennis Integrity Unit investigation and relating to incidents occurring between 2010 and 2013.
Independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer Richard H. McLaren considered the case at a hearing held in London earlier this month and decreed that, with immediate effect, Kumantsov "is not eligible to participate in or attend any tournament or competition organised or sanctioned by the governing bodies of professional tennis".
Kumantsov, who has a career-high ranking of 261 and ended last year 909th in the world, was deemed guilty of offences related to betting and match fixing.
The offences listed include transgression of the following rules: "No Covered Person shall, directly or indirectly, wager or attempt to wager on the outcome or any other aspect of any Event or any other tennis competition" and "No Covered Person shall, directly or indirectly, contrive or attempt to contrive the outcome or any other aspect of any Event."
