Andy Murray says serving well and extra training were the reasons he easily dispatched Nick Kyrgios

Andy Murray is feeling good as he remains on a quarter-final collision course with top seed Novak Djokovic at the Rogers Open in Toronto.

The British No 1 defeated Nick Kyrgios 6-2 6-2 to set up a third round clash with 12th seed Richard Gasquet on Thursday, to be shown live on Sky Sports 3 later on Thursday.

It was Murray’s first showing since losing in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon and he believes finally being able to train at 100 per cent again following his back surgery last year is paying dividends.

The eighth seed said: “I've worked extremely hard physically, by far the hardest I've worked since my back surgery (in September 2013) and the hardest I've worked in the last couple of years.

"My legs are strong and I'm moving well around the court and that's a big positive for me."

Djokovic was pushed all the way by talented Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-2 6-7 (4/7) 7-6 (7/2) and will next meet Jo-Wilfried Tsonga after he triumphed over his countryman Jeremy Chardy 7-6 (8/6) 6-4 earlier on Wednesday.
