Great Britain finished their Hopman Cup campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Germany in Perth.
Both teams were already out of contention in the competition, and after Heather Watson beat Andrea Petkovic, Dan Evans lost to Alexander Zverev.
In the 'Fast Four' mixed doubles, the Germans won 4-2 4-2 to complete a 2-1 victory.
Britain were beaten 3-0 by France and Switzerland earlier in the round robin matches.
Zverev, who beat Roger Federer earlier this week in a match regarded as one of the best in the tournament's history, beat Evans 6-4 6-4, avenging his defeat to the Brit in the US Open last year.
The 19-year-old is the youngest player in the top 50 and he is widely expected to be knocking on the top 10's door this year.
Watson won 6-2 7-6 (7-3) to chalk up her first victory of the week after defeats to Belinda Bencic and Kristina Mladenovic.
"I wanted that a lot," she said. "I woke up today thinking, 'You know what, I've been playing good tennis, I've had some really tight matches with great players, and I just wanted to continue doing the right things'."
