Andy Murray is flying out to New York as he steps up his preparations to take part in the US Open at Flushing Meadow.
Murray, who will lose his number one ranking to Rafael Nadal on Monday, has been suffering with a hip injury and has not played since his Wimbledon quarter-final loss to Sam Querrey in July.
The plan has always been for Murray to play at Flushing Meadows and it is understood he is flying to America ahead of the weekend, but it remains to be seen how his hip holds up amid heavy practice.
The Scot, who missed back-to-back Masters events in Montreal and Cincinnati, said: "I'm continuing to work hard on the court with the aim of being in New York."
Murray will be the second seed at the US Open behind Nadal who will take his world No 1 spot.
