The 23-year-old won the deciding rubber in the shock win over Russia in April and secured another coup on Wednesday with the scalp of American Ryan Harrison at the AEGON Trophy in Nottingham.
Evans has been criticised in the past for his attitude and admitted himself during the David Cup he has not always been completely dedicated to tennis.
The Solihull-based player's ranking of 299 is arguably well below what he is capable of but Davis Cup captain and Lawn Tennis Association head of men's tennis, Leon Smith, is pleased with his progress.
"Dan has backed up his great performance in the Davis Cup in Coventry with another win against a top-100 player at Nottingham this week," he said.
"His form is good, and his focus is on making the most of the opportunity he's been given here."
Evans' Davis Cup team-mate James Ward has already secured a wild card for the pre-Wimbledon tournament, which is headed by two-time champion Andy Murray.
