Defending champion Jelena Jankovic moved into the quarter-finals of the Claro Open Colsanitas in Bogota.
The top seed, whose resurgence began in Colombia last year, was a 6-4 6-3 winner over lucky loser Sofia Shapatava.
In the last eight Jankovic will play Lara Arruabarrena, who upset seventh seed Paula Ormaechea 6-4 7-6 (7/3).
Arruabarrena's victory prevented a repeat of last year's final, where Jankovic lost only three games against Ormaechea.
Fifth seed Caroline Garcia recovered from a set down to defeat Danka Kovinic 2-6 6-3 6-4 and next plays Romina Oprandi of Switzerland.
