Austria's Dominic Thiem overcame top seed David Goffin 7-5 6-2 in the Swiss Open final on Sunday to claim his third ATP title.

Thiem added to his wins in Nice in May and last week in Umag to become the first Austrian to win the event in Gstaad.

The 21-year-old’s win allowed him to exact a measure of revenge over Goffin after losing to the Belgian in the Kitzbuhel Cup a year ago.

After five breaks in a closely fought first set which Thiem came through 7-5, the Austrian cruised through the second, winning in one hour and 26 minutes.

Thiem is top-seeded at the clay-court event at Kitzbuhel which begins next week.
