Novak Djokovic has reached the final of the Cincinnati Masters for a fifth time but did not have it all his own way against Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov on Saturday.

Djokovic lost the first set to the world No 66 - as he had in Miami earlier this year - but battled back to claim a 4-6 7-6 (7/5) 6-2 victory.

Cincinnati is the only ATP 1000 Masters title that the Serbian has yet to win and he will now face Andy Murray or Roger Federer in the final, looking to put four previous losses in the title match behind him.

Djokovic had never lost a set in the semi-finals of the tournament but that statistic had looked under threat from the outset as Dolgopolov started brightly.

The pair exchanged breaks before Dolgopolov, who had beaten Tomas Berdych to reach the last four, took the first set.

Djokovic was treated for what looked to be a pectoral injury during the break but was fine to continue.

The second set was much closer, with the world No 1 coming from 3-0 down in the tie-break to take it.
