It’s double-trouble at the US Open on Friday as Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic feature in the women’s and men’s semi-finals.

Thursday's wash-out delayed the women's matches meaning Friday will be a bumper day of action featuring the top players in the game, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 5pm.

Flavia Pennetta meets world No 2 Simona Halep in the afternoon's first match on Arthur Ashe, followed by Williams' semi-final against the unseeded Roberta Vinci.

From 10pm, Novak Djokovic opposes reigning Flushing Meadows champion Marin Cilic followed by Roger Federer against his Swiss compatriot Stan Wawrinka.

World No 1 Williams is the firm favourite to beat Italy's Vinci and stay on course for a calendar Grand Slam.

This is how world No 1s Williams and Djokovic reached Friday's semi-finals

History heavily favours the American, who owns 21 major singles titles and is gunning for her seventh US Open singles trophy, while the other semi-final players do not have a Grand Slam title between them and are all straining to reach their first final in the Big Apple.

Williams has won four previous meetings with 32-year-old Vinci, who is ranked 43rd, including the most recent last month in the quarter-finals at Toronto.

Rogue squirrels, falling drones and a dancing Djokovic, this year's US Open has delivered some memorable moments - and here they are.

After the women's semis, last year's men's winner Cilic continues his defence against Djokovic, the world No 1 who he has never beaten. Djokovic dominates a 13-0 head-to-head record between them.

The weekend will be ushered in by Federer, the imperious world No 2, who meets Wawrinka.

Switzerland's best two players have shared a fractious relationship in the past and, in advance of Friday's meeting, Wawrinka has warned that he is one of few who can worry Federer.
