The Debate - Live: Watch weeknights at 10pm on Sky Sports Premier League

Roy Hodgson and Craig Bellamy join Geoff Shreeves to discuss Wayne Rooney's England career, his legacy and what the future holds for the national team.

Former captain Rooney announced his retirement from international duty on Wednesday amid speculation he could earn a recall to Gareth Southgate's squad after a great start to the season with Everton.

But he has now withdrawn his name from selection, with his former England manager Hodgson joining Bellamy and presenter Shreeves to discuss the forward.

They look back on his Three Lions career, which saw him become the leading scorer for his country, as well as focusing on his performances under Hodgson.

His legacy as an England player is also on the agenda and the duo consider where the national team now goes after the retirement of Rooney.

As ever, the show is rounded off with questions from the viewers in a Twitter Q&A.
