Sasha Banks to earn title opportunity next week
Friday 30 September 2016 16:57, UK
An injured Seth Rollins was forced to watch on as Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho defeated Enzo Amore and Big Cass in the main event of WWE Raw.
Rollins suffered a rib injury during his controversial loss to Owens at Sunday's Clash of Champions pay-per-view, forcing Raw general manager Mick Foley to ban him from competing.
The Architect - who was unable to claim Owen's title at the weekend due to a combination of Jericho's interference and a wounded referee - gate-crashed Owens' championship celebration on Jericho's Highlight Reel but was swamped by security personnel before he could throw any punches.
Foley subsequently put Owens and Jericho in a tag-team scrap against Amore and Big Cass, with 'Jeri-Ko' scooping the win when Owens blasted Amore with a Pop-Up Powerbomb.
Sasha Banks challenged Women's Champion Charlotte to a title tussle on Monday night but The Nature Girl delayed the match by seven days - with Banks' response to slap Charlotte and attack her pal, Dana Brooke.
TJ Perkins, meanwhile, warmed up for his match against Brian Kendrick - the man he beat at Clash of Champions - on next week's Raw by knocking off Tony Nese with a Kneebar on his red-brand debut.
Cesaro and Sheamus will be the next duo to challenge Tag Team Champions The New Day after Foley decided they should be rewarded for drawing their best-of-seven series - the pair ending their rivalry locked at 3-3 after Sunday's hard-hitting decider finished in a no contest.
The Swiss and the Irishman were unhappy partners on Monday night but were able to down Willis Williams and Nick Cutler when Sheamus battered both of his opponents with Brogue Kicks.
Cesaro and Sheamus will face The New Day at a later date after the reigning champions overcame Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows - a bloody Kofi Kingston nailing Anderson with Trouble in Paradise after his buddy, Big E, had been floored with a Magic Killer.
Elsewhere, Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander conquered Lince Dorado and Drew Gulak in a cruiserweight tag-team bout - Swann's Rich Kick on Gulak cementing the win - while Bayley bested local competitor Anna Fields with a Bayley-to-Belly Suplex.
Plus, new United States Champion Roman Reigns clocked Rusev with a Spear and a steel chair after their title match had ended in a double count-out when Reigns clotheslined Rusev over the barricade.
