Five WWE titles were on the line at the Backlash pay-per-view event, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The main event of the night saw WWE champion AJ Styles take on Shinsuke Nakamura in a no disqualification match in which no hold was barred.
That led to several brutal moments as the action spilled out of the ring, with Styles shedding blood as he defended the title he has held for more than six months.
But the pair could still not be separated, and the match ended in a no contest when neither could answer a 10-count following mutual low blows.
Nia Jax and Carmella completed successful defences of the Raw and SmackDown women's titles respectively, with Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair coming up short in their bids to regain the championships.
Jax caught Bliss as she attempted her Twisted Bliss finisher and transitioned it into a Samoan Drop for a pinfall victory to retain the red title.
And Carmella remains both the Princess of Staten Island and of the blue brand after Flair tweaked her knee while landing and the champion took advantage.
In an excellent match, Seth Rollins retained the Intercontinental title after a high-octane with over The Miz.
The A-lister almost had the match won when he slapped on a figure four leglock after Rollins had hurt his knee on the ringpost.
But the champion prevailed, producing a Stomp during a series of duelling roll-ups to secure a hard-earned win and keep the strap.
Another title remaining around the waist of its pre-event holder was the United States championship, which remains the property of Jeff Hardy.
He overcame Randy Orton in a Ruthless Aggression-era throwback match which ended with an Orton-style Twist of Fate out of nowhere, followed by a Swanton Bomb for the three-count.
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens' friendship was again tested to its limits in a defeat to the monstrous duo of Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley, and while Daniel Bryan overcame Big Cass, he then found himself on the receiving end of a brutal post-match attack.
Roman Reigns regained some of the momentum he had lost at the hands of Brock Lesnar with a powerful win over Samoa Joe following a Spear.
