Ivan Perisic joins Bayern Munich from Inter Milan on season-long loan

Ivan Perisic arrives at Bayern Munich's training ground after completing a move to the Bundesliga champions on a season-long loan from Inter Milan.

Bayern Munich have signed Ivan Perisic on a season-long loan from Inter Milan with an option to buy.

Perisic, a key part of the Croatia side that reached the final of the 2018 World Cup, will challenge Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman for a place on the wing following the departure of Arjen Robben, who has retired, and Franck Ribery.

The 30-year-old, who can also play up front or as an attacking midfielder, previously played for Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga between 2011 and 2015, and will now look to make his mark at the Allianz Arena.

"Ivan will instantly help us with his top-level experience," said Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic.

"He is skilled and is flexible up front. I am certain he will quickly integrate because he knows the Bundesliga and also our coach Niko Kovac."

Bayern had previously been linked with a move for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane but the Germany international tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the Community Shield win over Liverpool at Wembley earlier this month.

German champions Bayern, who were beaten by Dortmund in the German Super Cup earlier this month, start their Bundesliga campaign against Hertha Berlin on Friday.
