Cologne's Anthony Modeste agrees move to Chinese Super League

Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian have agreed a £31m (€35m) deal to sign Cologne striker Anthony Modeste.

The deal is composed of a £5 (€6m) loan with a £26m (€29m) option to buy.

Tianjin had been trying to sign Diego Costa and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

West Ham also tried to sign Modeste at the end of last month but had a £20m offer turned down. Modeste scored 25 times in Germany last season.

The Chinese mid-season transfer window opened on June 19 and closes on Friday, July 14.
