Britain’s Lizzie Armitstead sprinted to her fourth win of the season at the Trofeo Alfredo Binda one-day race in Italy.

Armitstead (Boels-Dolmans) formed part of a six-rider leading group heading into the finish in Cittiglio and then beat world road race champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (Rabobank-Liv) into second place and Anna van der Breggen (Rabobank-Liv) into third.

The Trofeo Alfredo Binda was the second event of the 10-race UCI Women’s Road World Cup series, which Armitstead won last year, and the 26-year-old now leads the 2015 standings.

She finished seventh in the first race, the Ronde van Drenthe, earlier in March.

Her previous wins this season all came at the Ladies Tour of Qatar in February, when she claimed two stages and the overall title.
