The track needed a dry night to give the fixture any chance of taking place - with the Flat crossings, in particular, giving cause for concern.
One millimetre more did not help the situation - and with light rain forecast for the rest of Sunday, officials had no alternative but to cancel the card, with the course waterlogged in places.
