Deauville Listed race is the plan for Katie's Diamond

Karl Burke is likely to stick to his original plan and send Empress Stakes winner Katie's Diamond over to France for a shot at the Prix Six Perfections.

The two-year-old filly, who was purchased by Qatar Racing after registering an impressive win on her debut at Redcar, maintained her unbeaten status with a narrow victory in the six-furlong Listed contest at Newmarket on Saturday.

Burke says a trip to Deauville for a crack at the Listed seven-furlong affair, won last year by the Roger Varian-trained Tigrilla, remains top of the agenda.

The North Yorkshire handler said: "Katie's Diamond showed a good turn of foot at Newmarket and I was delighted to get a first winner for Qatar Racing.

"Although we don't know how good the race was, she did it nicely in the end. She has got a lot of potential.

"The original plan was to go for the Six Perfections and then go for the Prix du Calvados, both of which are at Deauville, as it works out well.

"I think she will be better with a little bit of cut in the ground and you have more chance of getting it there than you do in England at that time of year.

"Although I have not spoken to the owners, that would be the obvious route as she seems to have come out of the race well."
