Scarlets back row pair Gareth Owen and Tom Williams have signed a new two-year contract with the Welsh region.

Utility back Owen, 27, joined the Scarlets in 2012 from the Ospreys after a knee injury in 2011 meant he missed the season.

Williams, 25, leaves Cardiff Blues having been on a season-long loan at Parc y Scarlets. The wing has been out since the end of January after a shoulder injury.

The pair are the latest players to have agreed a new deal that will keep them at the region until 2018.

"I feel that I've had more of an opportunity to show what I can do this season, and have stayed relatively injury-free, which has allowed me to put a decent run of games together."

Full-back Williams, who has made 10 competitive appearances for the Scarlets, added: "It's has been a frustrating couple of months having to watch from the sidelines because of injury but I'm looking forward to the next couple of years with the Scarlets."
