Ohara Davies has branded Derry Mathews as 'desperate' and vowed to end their social media feud with a crushing victory over the Liverpudlian next year.

The 24-year-old super-lightweight extended his unbeaten record to 14 victories in November as he claimed a unanimous points win over Andrea Scarpa at Wembley Arena.

Davies is hoping to continue his rise up the rankings after collecting the WBC silver title, but could be tempted into a domestic clash with Mathews following a lengthy war of words.

"Derry Mathews has been on Twitter saying bad things about me for about a year now," Davies told Sky Sports.

"I feel like he's a bit jealous that I've achieved quite a lot in such a short space of time, and also that I'm on the way up and he's on the way down.

"I should have some more news on my next fight in the next week or so. But Derry Mathews is a person that I would like to hit on his chin, so we'll see what happens."

Mathews suffered a battling points defeat to WBO lightweight champion Terry Flanagan in March, while the 33-year-old was stopped in the fourth round by Luke Campbell in October.

Davies believes a step up in weight for Mathews would result in another knockout defeat, and is even willing to fight the Merseysider in his hometown.

"I would definitely go up there to fight him, but that is not something that I think he should do, because I don't think he would want to get knocked out in front of his own fans," he said.

He's a desperate fighter, desperate for a pay cheque, desperate for a person to give him an opportunity to get back up.

"He's got beat in his last two fights. At this minute he's a desperate fighter, desperate for a pay cheque, desperate for a person to give him an opportunity to get back up.

"He's been fighting for so long, even before I was probably born."

British champion Tyrone Nurse has been ordered to defend against Davies by April next year, and 'Two Tanks' is waiting to see if this fight fits into his future plans.

"I've seen Nurse fight a few times," said Davies. "I think he's good, slick boxer, and I do rate him. But then again, I don't see anything in him that I can't handle.

"This time next year I want to be a world champion and we are taking all the necessary steps to get there."
