Australian seamer will not get practice in England ahead of the Ashes

Gloucestershire's controversial move to bring in Australian seamer Stuart Clark just before the Ashes has been scuppered by visa problems. The county had hoped to bring in the 33-year-old as cover for New Zealand's James Franklin during the ICC World Twenty20. The Gladiators' efforts caused uproar in England, though, because it would have allowed the Australian international valuable match practice ahead of the all-important summer series. Clark, however, was unable to obtain a visa in time to make the move viable. "Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and Stuart Clark confirm that he will not be joining the club this summer," Gloucestershire said on Monday. "As previously stated the issue has been getting a visa, which Stuart has been unable to do in the right time frame." Clark, who has previously played for Middlesex and Hampshire, had initially planned to join Kent this season but pulled out due to international commitments.
