Aussie 'thrilled to be invited back'

Australia batsman David Hussey admitted "Nottingham is like a second home" after the Outlaws confirmed his return for the 2010 season. The 32-year-old will return for a fifth successive season at Trent Bridge after negotiations between both parties were successful on Tuesday. Hussey, who has played 23 one-day internationals for Australia, joined Notts for just five weeks of the 2009 season following commitments with Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders. But Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell has lured him back for the majority of the new campaign. "David is a proven match-winner in all forms of the game and he has made a big impact whenever he has been available to us," he said "He was our number one target and he is always keen to play for us when his commitments allow. He'll lead our batting, and we couldn't ask for a better or more dominant player to do that for us." The Victoria batsman scored two hundreds and a 50 in three LV County Championship matches last season, and an unbeaten 120 in the NatWest Pro40 game against Somerset.

Successful

Hussey admitted his delight to have agreed to rejoin the county on a full-season deal, although he may miss the start of next summer because of his IPL commitments. "Nottingham is like a second home to me, and I'm thrilled to be invited back again," he said. "Fortunately I should be available for most of the season this year and I'm looking forward to seeing what changes have been put in place. "I just hope it will be a hugely successful one for us." Newell admitted the club may also look to re-sign last season's overseas recruit Adam Voges, on a short-term deal. "Adam is keen on playing county cricket next summer - so a shorter spell with us may be a good fit - but we need to have further discussions because he may choose to spend a full season elsewhere," he added. "We're waiting to see the fixture schedule, because that could affect the availability of our second overseas player for the Twenty20 competition. "We've identified some targets and we are keen to take advantage of the rule change."
