Seamer inks new one-year contract

Former England seamer James Kirtley has signed a new one-year contract to remain at Sussex next season. The deal takes Kirtley, who turns 35 next week, into his 16th season at Hove and he will continue to form a key part of their limited-overs attack. Despite relegation from the top tier of the LV County Championship, Kirtley helped the Sharks to take both the Twenty20 Cup and the NatWest Pro40 titles, as well as finishing as runners-up in the Friends Provident Trophy. Kirtley, whose international career included four Tests, 11 ODIs and one Twenty20 International, picked up 44 one-day wickets last term. "I'm looking forward to playing in my 16th season at the club," he said. "During my time with Sussex I've been lucky enough to have played in a hugely successful team and I'm looking forward to fighting hard to bring more silverware to Hove."
