Surrey wrapped up the County Championship Division Two title despite being unable to force a victory over Northamptonshire at The Oval.
England star Jason Roy celebrated inking a new three-year contract by bludgeoning a 35-ball 77 - an innings that featured eight sixes - but a draw was called with Surrey on 125-5, 90 runs short of their target of 215.
However, with Lancashire only managing a stalemate against Essex at Chelmsford, Gareth Batty's men's 13-point haul ensured they finished 10 points clear of the Old Trafford outfit in the standings.
Northants' Ben Duckett (120) and Alex Wakely (93) were trapped lbw early on by Tom Curran (3-141) in south London, the Surrey seamer completing a first 10-wicket haul as the visitors fell from their overnight 223-1 to 279-5.
Adam Rossington (116) and David Murphy (135no) put on 162 for the sixth wicket, with Murphy securing his maiden first-class ton during a 71-run stand with last man Rory Kleinveldt (20) as the Steelbacks were dismissed for 514.
Steven Davies (0) and Kumar Sangakkara (9) were among the Surrey batsmen to depart cheaply while Roy went berserk at the other end, with handshakes taking place shortly after 5pm.
Lancashire, meanwhile, scored 310 at Chelmsford, Luis Reece (82) and Ashwell Prince (51), the latter in his final innings, passing fifty before the visitors lost their last seven wickets for 41 to surrender a lead of 84.
Third-placed Essex subsequently reached 138-3, England skipper Alastair Cook (6) caught by James Anderson off Glen Chapple as Ravi Bopara (52 not out) top scored, Jesse Ryder (38 from 23 balls) playing a fun cameo.
Gloucestershire - still buoyant from last weekend's Royal London One-Day Cup triumph - played out a draw with Glamorgan in Bristol, meaning the hosts finished the season in sixth position and the visitors took fourth.
Glamorgan batsmen Chris Cooke (102no) and Colin Ingram (101no) plundered hundreds on the final day, sharing an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 180 as the away team eased their way to 365-3.
Chesney Hughes notched 101, while skipper Wayne Madsen and openers Billy Godleman and Ben Slater chipped in with fifties, but the Falcons were 10 runs shy of the required 341 when time elapsed, ending on 331-8.
Leicester captain Mark Cosgrove (156) had earlier been last man out in the Foxes' total of 363, the left-hander stumped off spinner Wes Durston as the bowler completed career-best figures of 6-109.
