Hampshire seamer Fidel Edwards will miss the rest of the season with the ankle injury he suffered last month, it has been confirmed.
The 34-year-old was injured in the warm-up before the county championship match against Yorkshire in April.
Edwards had the surgery on April 26 and it has now been confirmed he will not play again this summer.
"It's a real shame for him," said Hampshire director of cricket Giles White. "He has been unbelievable since he has been with us and has become an extremely popular member of the club."
"We will support him through his recovery and look forward to having him back in a Hampshire shirt as soon as possible. He is a class act and the team will miss him."
The news is a further blow to Hampshire, who lost bowler Reece Topley to a broken hand - which is expected to keep him out for up to eight weeks - on the opening day of the season.
