Sri Lanka have suffered another blow with the news that Dushmantha Chameera will have to return home through injury.

The 24-year-old has sustained a stress fracture to his lower back and will be returning to Colombo for treatment.

During the first Test at Headingley, Chameera took three England wickets including that of man of the match Jonny Bairstow.

A Sri Lanka statement reads: "He underwent an MRI/CT Scan which has indicated a stress fracture to his lower back and the medical recommendation is treatment and rest for as much as four months.

"National selectors, headed by Sanath Jayasuriya, will meet within the next 24 hours, to decide on a suitable replacement."

Chameera has played five Tests for Sri Lanka, nine ODIs and 13 T20 internationals, and his participation in the forthcoming home series against Australia may also be in doubt.

He becomes the second fast bowler to depart the Sri Lanka squad, following Dhammika Prasad who left the tour party with a shoulder injury ahead of the first Test. Kusal Perera has been named as his replacement.
