Shai Hope's battling 62 was in vain as James Anderson's career-best figures of 7-42 propelled England to a nine-wicket victory in the third Test and a 2-1 series win over Windies, at Lord's.

Shai Hope held the Windies together with a valiant half-century, but when he fell to a cracking delivery from Anderson, the tourists fate appeared sealed.

Windies improved their overnight score from 93-3 to 153-6 before lunch to establish an overall lead of 82, recovering somewhat after losing Roston Chase to Anderson's fourth ball of the day.

Hope. who became the first player to score two hundreds in a first-class match at Headingley during the Windies' second Test victory, reached his fifty in real style by tucking Roland-Jones from outside off into the leg-side for four, chalking up his half-century off 127 balls.

Alastair Cook dropped Jason Holder off Joe Root's final ball before lunch but it mattered little as Anderson got to work after the interval, finding movement down the slope to take Hope's edge - his departure signalling a swift end to Windies innings.

England lost Cook in pursuit of victory, trapped lbw by Devendra Bishoo's first ball, but Westley and Stoneman (40no) saw the hosts across the line at 4.16pm.
