Kuldeep Yadav became the first Indian spinner to take a one-day international hat-trick as Australia crumbled to a 50-run defeat in the second ODI, at Kolkata.
Yadav dismissed Matthew Wade, Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins as the tourists slumped from 148-5 to 148-8 in the 33rd over after being set 253 to win on Thursday. REPORT | HIGHLIGHTS
The spinner is the third Indian bowler to achieve the feat in 50-over cricket after seamers Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev, against New Zealand in 1987 and Sri Lanka in 1991 respectively.
Kuldeep had a little assistance from Wade, who departed for just two after he played on attempting to cut a leg-break.
Agar's briefest of stays ended when he missed a straight full toss and opted not to review before Kuldeep sent Eden Gardens into meltdown with a delicious delivery that dipped on the new batsman before turning to take the edge - MS Dhoni taking a smart catch behind the stumps.
Skipper Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis struck defiant fifties for the tourists but India seized a 2-0 lead in the series thanks to Yadav's haul and 3-9 from Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Watch the third ODI between India and Australia live on Sky Sports Cricket from 8.50am this Sunday.
