Middlesex man switches to Glamorgan after signing three-year deal.

England all-rounder Jamie Dalrymple has joined Glamorgan after turning down the offer of a new deal with Middlesex. Dalrymple was included in England's one-day squad for both the victorious Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia, and the disappointing World Cup in the West Indies. However, the 26-year-old did not enjoy the best of form domestically and has now opted for a change of scenery for next season's County Championship. After taking a look around the new facilities in Cardiff, Dalrymple decided to turn down a new deal at Middlesex in order to pen a three-year contract with Glamorgan. "Joining Glamorgan on a three-year deal is a very exciting opportunity, and I'm really looking forward to making a new start at a very ambitious club," said Dalrymple. "I was most impressed by the new stadium at Cardiff when I visited Glamorgan's headquarters recently, and I believe that their wonderful looking ground and fantastic new facilities are indicative of their forward-thinking philosophy."

Tough choice

Dalrymple admitted that it was a tough decision to leave Middlesex, but wanted to take on a fresh challenge in his career. "I have had a wonderful time at Middlesex and have many friends there on and off the field," Dalrymple added. "However, the time was right to seek a fresh challenge and a new opportunity. It has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life." Glamorgan cricket manager Matthew Maynard welcomed Dalrymple's decision to join him at Sophia Gardens. "I'm absolutely thrilled that such a proven quality cricketer as Jamie has joined Glamorgan," said Maynard.
